Yin Yoga

  • URU Yoga - 9 Mile 2475 East 9 Mile Road Pensacola, FL, 32514 United States (map)

In a fast-paced society, it it of the utmost importance that we regularly invest our time in conscious rest. This class is  a place for you to show up, however you're feeling, and just breathe and be.

For 75 minutes we will settle into yin postures with the support of blocks, bolsters, and blankets. There are three principles of Yin Yoga: Come into the pose at an appropriate depth, hold the pose for time (we will hold poses anywhere from 1-10 minutes), and resolve to remain still for the duration of the pose. All levels of practitioners (beginner, intermediate, advanced) are welcome to Yin Yoga.

Yin Yoga targets the ligaments, joints, deep fascial networks, and even your bones while yang yoga targets muscles. Yin is yielding, allowing, and nourishing. It provides you space to be with what is present in your mind, body, and heart. It is a time where nothing else has to exist outside of the present moment.

It is important to note that Yin Yoga is not necessarily always "easy." Some poses are more challenging to hold than others. Most poses target the area between the navel and the knees, so be prepared for your hips to receive a lot of attention.

There will be soft, relaxing music, no to low lighting depending on the time of year, there may be candles/incense/palo santo/sage scents. If there is a student that is sensitive to scents, we will forgo any scents.

I look forward to practicing with you!
