  • Absolutely. Therapeutic massage can help reduce chronic tension, increase mobility, and support your body’s natural healing response.

  • Yes—deep tissue massage is our specialty, this technique is available and integrated into your session as needed, always with care and communication.

  • Yes, cupping therapy is available as an integrated service within your massage session when appropriate and beneficial to your treatment goals.

Cupping is a manual therapy technique that uses specialized cups to create gentle suction on the skin and underlying tissues. This negative pressure helps to:

    • Release muscular tension and fascial restrictions

    • Increase circulation and lymphatic flow

    • Support detoxification of stagnant fluids and metabolic waste

    • Reduce pain and inflammation

    • Improve mobility and tissue health

Cupping may leave temporary marks on the skin that look like light bruising — these are not painful and typically fade within a few days.

Cupping is always used with your consent and is customized to your comfort level and therapeutic needs. It may be combined with massage therapy or offered as a stand-alone technique based on your treatment plan.

  • Yes, all of our therapists are trained and licensed to provide Clinical Massage, also known as Medical Massage.

Clinical Massage is a results-driven, therapeutic approach to massage therapy focused on addressing specific conditions, injuries, or chronic pain patterns. While some clients seek Clinical Massage with a referral or prescription from their healthcare provider, many come independently for support with pain management, injury recovery, and overall wellness.

What Can Clinical Massage Help With?

Clinical Massage uses advanced techniques designed to:

    • Release tight, sore muscles that may be restricting circulation and causing ischemia (restricted blood flow to soft tissues, leading to sensitivity and pain).

    • Relieve nerve compression or entrapment caused by muscle tension or structural imbalances — reducing symptoms such as referred pain, tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness.

    • Deactivate myofascial trigger points — highly sensitive areas within muscle tissue that refer pain to other parts of the body.

    • Decrease pain and inflammation associated with injuries or chronic conditions.

    • Improve circulation, lymphatic flow, and overall tissue health.

    • Increase flexibility, range of motion, and ease of movement.

    • Support better posture, body awareness, and coordination.

    • Alleviate stress and promote relaxation to support mental and emotional well-being.

Is Clinical Massage Right For Me?

If you are experiencing chronic pain, recovering from an injury or surgery, managing stress, or seeking to improve your mobility and function — Clinical Massage may be an excellent part of your wellness plan.

  • No. You do not need a referral to receive treatment. Some insurance companies may provide coverage for medically necessary massage with a physician’s diagnosis and referral. We cannot process medical claims without your physician’s diagnoses including the frequency and duration of treatments.

With or without a physician’s referral, we will treat your musculoskeletal pain directly and develop a treatment plan to help you meet your individual goals.

  • Not at all! Your comfort is always our top priority. About half of our clients choose to remove their undergarments, while the other half prefer to keep them on — it’s completely up to you.

You’ll always be fully draped with a sheet and blanket, and only the area being worked on will be uncovered at any time.

In certain cases, such as full-body post-surgical treatments, more of the body may need to be exposed for medical reasons — but your comfort, privacy, and consent will always come first.

  • The ideal frequency of massage depends on your individual needs, goals, and lifestyle factors.

For chronic pain, injury recovery, or post-surgical care: Weekly or bi-weekly sessions are often recommended to support healing, reduce inflammation, and improve mobility.

For stress management, muscular tension, or preventive care: Every 2-4 weeks tends to maintain progress and prevent issues from returning.

For general wellness and relaxation: Monthly or seasonal sessions can be highly beneficial for nervous system regulation, circulation, and overall well-being.

Ultimately, consistency yields the best results. During your session, we can discuss a personalized treatment plan that supports your goals, budget, and lifestyle.

  • Yes, our therapists do work with minors; however, there are specific guidelines in place to ensure safety, comfort, and consent.

A parent or legal guardian must provide written consent prior to the session.

Clients under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian present in the treatment room for the duration of the session.

Clients aged 16-17 may receive massage without a parent in the room, but the parent or guardian must remain on the premises.

All sessions with minors are customized to their individual needs and comfort level, whether it’s for sports recovery, stress relief, or general relaxation.

  • Yes, our therapists offer Prenatal Massage specifically designed to support the unique physical and physiological changes that occur throughout pregnancy.

Prenatal Massage is a safe and effective therapeutic approach for most healthy pregnancies. It can help alleviate common discomforts such as:

    • Low back pain and hip tension

    • Sciatic nerve discomfort

    • Swelling in hands and feet

    • Neck and shoulder tightness

    • General stress, anxiety, and fatigue

Our studio is equipped with specialized prenatal bolstering systems, including supportive cushions that allow many expectant mothers to comfortably lie in a prone (face-down) position during part of their session — an option that is not commonly available in most settings. Side-lying positioning is also available and always used as needed for comfort and safety.

    Important to note:

    • Prenatal massage is available after the first trimester (12 weeks) for low-risk pregnancies.

    • Clients experiencing high-risk pregnancies or specific medical conditions may require written clearance from their healthcare provider prior to treatment.

During your intake and consultation, we will review your health history and customize your session to ensure a safe, supportive, and nurturing experience for both you and your baby.

  • Clinically speaking:

Massage Therapy often refers to the application of specific techniques like Swedish massage, deep tissue, or sports massage — primarily focused on manipulating muscles and soft tissue to relieve pain, tension, or stress.

Therapeutic Bodywork is a broader term. It can include massage techniques, but also integrates other healing practices like stretching, energy work, breath awareness, nervous system regulation, or subtle touch techniques — depending on the practitioner’s training.

    Educationally speaking:

Massage is often thought of as something you receive to feel better physically. Bodywork, on the other hand, invites a deeper relationship with your body. It may address the physical, but also includes the energetic, emotional, and somatic patterns held within the body.

Massage can treat the symptoms. Bodywork often explores the root.

    Spiritually speaking:

    Massage moves muscles.
    Bodywork moves energy.

    Massage helps you relax.
    Bodywork helps you remember yourself.

In our practice, massage and bodywork blend together. Our therapists listen to your body and respond with whatever tools best support you — whether that’s deeper pressure, stillness, subtle unwinding, or nervous system calming. No two sessions are the same because no two bodies are the same.

  • Every body responds differently, but many clients report feeling deeply relaxed, lighter, and more connected to themselves after a session. You may notice a sense of emotional release, greater ease in movement, or reduced tension in areas that once felt tight or painful. It's also common to feel a little sleepy, grounded, or even energized — depending on what your body needed most.

After a therapeutic massage or holistic bodywork session, it's important to hydrate well, listen to your body's cues, and allow yourself time to integrate. Some people may experience mild soreness the next day, similar to a good workout, especially if deeper work was done. This is a natural part of your body’s healing process as it recalibrates.

At Yin Yang Healing Arts, each session is designed to support your unique needs — whether that means calming the nervous system, encouraging lymphatic flow, releasing fascial tension, or simply creating space for you to breathe and reset.

  • The experience is typically both relaxing and therapeutic — but never painful in a way that feels unsafe or overwhelming. At Yin Yang Healing Arts, we believe in working with your body, not against it. Some techniques, like myofascial release or trigger point therapy, may bring up moments of intensity or sensation, especially in areas holding deep tension. However, this is always balanced with gentleness, breath, and relaxation.

You’re encouraged to speak up at any time — your comfort and nervous system safety are always the priority. Most clients describe the session as a blend of deep release and soothing calm, where even the more intense moments are followed by a sense of relief, lightness, and peace.

  • You don’t have to have it all figured out — that’s what our specialized therapists are here for. All sessions at Yin Yang Healing Arts are intuitively customized to your needs in the moment. Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, stress, injury recovery, or simply in need of deep relaxation, we’ll listen to what your body is communicating and draw from a wide range of techniques to support your healing.

If you're unsure where to start, just choose the session length that feels right for you. A 60-minute session is ideal for focused work, while 90 or 120 minutes allows for a more complete, integrative experience. During your intake, we’ll explore your goals, preferences, and any concerns — and from there, we’ll craft a personalized session using modalities like Myofascial Release, Acupressure, Lymphatic Drainage, Aromatherapy, Cupping Therapy, and more.

You’re in expert, compassionate hands — just show up as you are, and we’ll take it from there.
